Place Value to Millions. Read and write numbers to 1 million.
Develop various mental strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Develop strategies to recall multiplication tables up to 10x10. Multiply numbers and decimals by a multiple of 10.
Rounding and estimating work.
Work on Time – 24 hr and 12hr work. Durations. Counting forward and backward.
Using data skills. Looking at various graphs, spreadsheets, data bases.

Term 2

Further work on:
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Decimals – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Finding decimal equivalences.

Term 1 

Looking at people - what do we need/want? Look at how lucky we are. How do we care for others? Looking at various charities and research on laptops.
Read and discuss the parable 'The Good Samaritan'. Children write their own versions.
Look at stories in the Bible that show how Jesus helped others. Children to discuss and act out various stories in groups.
Armistice day : Remembering those who lost their lives. Discussing media/poetry. Children to write own poetry in remembrance of those who died/make poppies.
Look at and discuss the Jewish religion and beliefs/festivals.
Look at other religious festivals where light plays a prominent role, e.g. Hindu/Sikh festival :
Divali and the Christian festival : story of Christmas and the story of the Christingle.  

 

Term 2 

Story of Moses and the suffering of his people.
View video of Moses and discuss the messages within the story.
Discuss the Ten Commandments/importance of following rules in a community.
SEAL - understanding their responsibilities and their rights at school/community.
Discuss the 10 plagues and how people still suffer today. Share examples of how disasters still affect the world today.
Research work into Disasters and suffering, e.g. Aberfan, Tsnami and Hurricanes. (powerpoint presentations).
Visit to local church during Holy week. Children prepare questionnaires/interview vicar Teale.
Recount writing of story of Easter, from viewpoint of Jesus himself.

Term 3 

Discuss a few parables from the Bible and their messages.
Children to act out various parables, working in groups.
How did people learn about Jesus after his death? Discuss missionaries.
Look at the life of the Apostle Paul. Why was his work so important? Discuss.
Write a diary, as if you were Paul, sharing the word of God with others.
Inspiration. Look at people who have inspired others e.g. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Helen Keller, Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Louis Braille and others.
Research work on those who have inspired (working in groups/partners).
Prepare INTERVIEWS and write a list of questions you would ask the above inspirational people about their lives, work and beliefs, if they were alive today.
CHANGES - SEAL programme (Closure when moving on to a new school and 'gifts' they will bring to their new school.) Discuss people who are important to them and create a personal card to a friend, outlining special qualities that he/she may have.
CHANGES - SEAL programme (Discuss the transition from primary to secondary school. Create a mind map outlining mixed feelings and strategies to overcome any fears.)

Yn yr ail dymor, bydd y disgyblion yn edrych ar gemau yn ystod yr ail ryfel byd, ac yn cymharu i'r rhai nawr. Ei gwaith fydd i ymchwilio, cynllunio a gwneud gem fydd yn addas i'r cyfnod yna, gan gofio bydd rhaid iddynt ddylunio'r bwrdd, cownteri a chreu cyfres o reolau i gyd-fynd. Tymor 1 

Yn yr hanner tymor yma, bydd y disgyblion yn ymchwilio, dylunio a chreu cylchred trydanol i fynd ar gwch maent wedi creu. Bydd y gwaith yma yn atgyfnerthu'r hyn maent wedi ei ddysgu yng ngwyddoniaeth. Bydd y disgyblion yn gweithio mewn grwpiau bach i gynllunio a chreu cwch allan o bren, ac yna fydd yn cael ei bweru gan gylchred trydanol. Byddant yn treiali ei cwch ar ddwr, ac yn gwerthuso'n fanwl. 

 

Tymor 2 

Yn yr ail dymor, bydd y disgyblion yn creu mwgwd wrth fynd lawr at ffatri cynhyrchu plastig lleol, defnyddio peiriannau CAD A CAM, ac yn cynhyrchu mwgwd o safon uchel. Bydd y disgyblion wedi ymchwilio, dylunio syniadau am amryw o fygydau, cyn iddynt fynd i'r ffatri i greu eu syniad gorffenedig.

Composing, Performing and Appraising work based on the theme of ‘Transport.’ (Primary Resource File)
Pass simple rhythmic phrases. Listen to and compare two musical phrases. Create their own musical phrases and pass it around a circle. Consider and create (body movement and sounds) the sounds of various means of transport and express them as symbols.
Combine sounds into group compositions and transcribe them for musical instruments. Listen to a range of music from various countries in different styles. Sing along with and move to the music.
Compare the styles of music.
Sing a range of more demanding unison songs and sometimes maintaining an independent vocal part (e.g. simple descant)

Composing, Appraising and Performing activities based on Rhythm and Pitch work.
Rhythm work based on the French naming system. (crotchets: quavers: minims: semibreves: semiquavers: dotted minims: dotted crotchets and quavers: 3/8 and 6/8 rhythms such as dotted crotchets and 3 quavers.
Rhythms of varying lengths 3/4/5/6 and up to 8 beats in length.
Pitch activities involve m-r-d-t-l; l-s-f-m-r-d-t, -l, and d’ –t-l-s-f-m-r-d. Part singing using sol-fa names and hand signs.
Sing a wide range of unison and two part songs controlling pitch, rhythm, dynamics and phrasing.
